Crush Boys Hockey Ties Roseau
By Eli Zniewski / Sports Reporter / St. Cloud, Minn.
-The first period was a constant back and forth possession battle. If the St. Cloud Crush
were on an offensive drive the Roseau Rams defense would take the puck away and go
the other way almost immediately. When the Roseau Rams went the other way, the St.
Cloud Crush would do the exact same thing. Every shot on goal was quickly taken after
entering the offensive zone and all shots were very easy to save for both goaltenders.
There were four penalties in the first period, two penalties by each team. Three minor
penalties and one major penalty. Kade Havda for the Roseau Rams got the major
penalty for checking from behind which put Havda in the box for five minutes giving the
Crush the one and only major power play of the afternoon. The Crush were unable to
score on the major power play.
The second period had no penalties but did have the only two goals of the game. The
first goal of the game was scored by the St. Cloud Crush which was a beautiful
centering tape to tape pass from Aiden Yurczyk which was received by Logan Ylinen
who tipped it past the blocker of Brendan Simmons. The Roseau Rams would respond
with a goal of their own within less than a minute. The Roseau Rams Abram Waage
would capitalize on a sharp angle shot that was able sneak past Sam Keul.
The third period would turn out to be a copy and paste of the first period. There was a total of four
minor penalties in the third period with the penalties split two to each team, as well as
no goals scored. Overtime would bring some very close chances for both teams, but
nobody was able to put it in the back of the net.
