Will be hosting Afternoon Progressive Rock Show
3.) Please list some of the artists and musicians you consider to be a must play on your show(s)?
Newer: Animal Collective, Beach House, Dirty Projectors, Twin Shadow. Older: Scott Walker, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Björk, Radiohead.
4.) Why are you involved with independent community radio at 88.1 FM?
I love music and I’m excited about the opportunity to share some of my enthusiasm with listeners. Beyond that, I have great respect/admiration for the services provided by public radio and am considering a career in that area.
5.) What is in your personal CD player, iPod, or mp3 right now (BE HONEST)?
I lost my ipod earlier this fall (tear). The five most recently played artists in my iTunes are: Radiohead, Philip Glass, Belle & Sebastian, Arcade Fire, and How to Dress Well.
6.) Please disclose the most embarrassing music moment or concert you’ve attended or album you’ve bought (perhaps even shameful).
I still love listening to ABBA sometimes. I asked my dad for an *N Sync album in 6th grade.
7.) What are your hobbies and interest?
Cooking, tennis, craft beer, film, playing with my dog
8.) When you are not at work or KVSC, where can you most likely be found?
At home, walking my dog, or at the gym
9.) If it were the end of the world and you could only take five things with you, what would they be (BE HONEST)?
Does a dog count as a thing? Where am I taking these things – a bomb shelter? A post-apocalyptic world? The afterlife? For the sake of providing an answer, I’ll simply list a few favorite cultural artifacts: Books: Leaves of Grass, The Corrections. Music: Person Pitch, Sung Tongs. If I can take a living thing, number five would be my dog, Katie. If not, my teddy bear, Bear.
10.) What do you think is the future of radio?
Briefly, I envision technological changes that might make certain functions of radio obsolete, but I think humans have a basic need for connectedness that radio satisfies in a unique way and which will ensure its survival for the foreseeable future.
