Joe B

  1. When and why did you get involved with 88.1FM KVSC?

I got involved early 2018 after I started pursuing a 2nd major in Mass Communications and got hired at KVSC as an Assistant Production Director. I also wanted to get involved with the various programs within said major, so the situation was a win-win in my book.

2. What show(s) do you currently host on KVSC?

Currently host Thursday and Friday Afternoon Progressive Rock Shows and other occasional shows from time to time.

3. Please list some of the artists and musicians that you consider a must play on your show(s).

Got to have me some King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at least once in a while, but otherwise I love playing some Tyler The Creator, Brockhampton, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, and many others as staples. Otherwise I love playing new music on my shows, no matter what kind.

4. What music do you listen to when you’re not tuned into KVSC?

The previously mentioned artists along with clipping., Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, The Alan Parsons Project, Thundercat, The Pillows, Crumb, Childish Gambino, Animals as Leaders, and many more. So pretty much anything I’m interested in regardless of genre. Only thing I don’t listen to is modern country.

5. What is the most embarrassing (perhaps even shameful) music phase you have gone through?

It was when I was in middle school and I wouldn’t listen to anything but deadmau5, but the cringey part about it was the fact that I denounced music w/ lyrics as “lesser” than music w/o lyrics. I was like one of those snobby classical music stans but for dance/EDM music.

6. What are your hobbies and/or interests?

Playing video games, reading, composing/playing music, board games, and cleaning my house.

7. When you are not at work or KVSC where can you most likely be found?

At home.

8. What’s the most challenging part of being a radio DJ?

Trying not to sound like a dummy on air.

9. What would you like to be doing in five years?

Something in the entertainment industry. Kind of want to make commercials, but also at the same time be a sound engineer.

Joe B. KVSC on-air Host and Production Director.
