-The St. Cloud State men’s hockey team was defeated by the North Dakota Fighting Hawks 3-4 on Friday night. Gavyn Thoreson, Barrett Hall, and Tyson Gross each scored for the Huskies while Will Zellers scored the game winning goal for North Dakota.
North Dakota’s Cody Croal scored the first goal of the night at the 6:46 mark of the first period.

St. Cloud entered the second period with more energy and just 25 seconds in, Tyson Gross scored to tie the game. Late in the period, North Dakota’s Dylan James netted a powerplay goal to give the Fighting Hawks the lead once again.
North Dakota controlled the game for most of the third period. Will Zellers then added another goal for the Fighting Hawks, extending their lead to 4-2. Gavyn Thoreson scored roughly 7 minutes into the third period, but the Huskies couldn’t complete the comeback and were defeated 3-4.
Coaches Quote: “I thought it was a really good, even hockey game and unfortunately we didn’t push it over the hump.”
Next up: SCSU will take on the Fighting Hawks again tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. You can hear that game live on KVSC with Carl Goenner and John Clement on the call.
