Husky Volleyball Wins NSIC Championship

ST. PAUL, MN – The St. Cloud State Huskies swept No. 5 Concordia St. Paul 3-0 to capture the NSIC championship, winning by set scores of 29-27, 25-22, and 25-15.The opening set was tight from start to finish. St. Cloud held an early lead, but Concordia St. Paul clawed back and forced extra points. The Huskies were able to stay in control and closed out the set 29-27. In the second, St. Cloud built steady momentum and kept the Golden Bears from making any major runs, taking the frame 25-22.
The third set was all Huskies. St. Cloud took control right away and never let Concordia St. Paul find their groove, cruising to a 25-15 win to complete the sweep.
Shelby Kimm led St. Cloud with 17 kills, while Ella Thompson added 11 and Sam Zimmerman finished with 10. Kimm also had a strong night at the net with four blocks. Concordia St. Paul was led by Mehlayna Straub with 12 kills and Makenna Nold with 11.
This is St. Cloud’s 4th NSIC volleyball tournament championship in 5 years.
