Creative Minnesota Report Finds Arts Industry in Minnesota to have $1.2 Billion Impact

In this installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, it’s all about a great investment, the arts! Recently, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, after compiling information from 1,269 partner organizations through the Cultural Data Project, released its first Creative Minnesota Report on the economic impact of the arts within the State of Minnesota, and the news is impressive. With an annual economic impact of $1.2 billion, the arts industry is thriving and increasing the quality of life within every corner of the state. With a great sense of gratitude to the voters of Minnesota who approved the Legacy Amendment in 2008, Sheila Smith from Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, Tony Goddart from the City of St. Cloud, and Dave Glenn, a visual artist and State of Minnesota Arts Board Member, describe just why these findings are so impressive and what the dollars actually translate into, a finer essence of community.

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
