The Transit of Venus from SCSU

On Tuesday, June 5, 2012, our sunset included a once in a lifetime event.  Venus made its transit across the face of the sun.  And as this happened, the SCSU Physics & Chemistry Department held a viewing party in the Wick Science Building which attracted far more people than they expected.  As families gathered in a standing room only planetarium and in an overflow classroom, Arts & Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack got to talk with SCSU Astronomy Professor Gary Bohannan about the Venus Transit, the collaborative effort between SCSU Departments that made the viewing party possible, and humanity’s place amongst the stars.
