The Untold Story of Steve Houle and the History of Ferries in Central Minnesota

In this news feature that aired in November of 2012, KVSC’s Jeff Carmack begun a new Arts & Cultural Heritage funded program: the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota. Through partnering with the Stearns History Museum, Carmack will be bringing KVSC listeners a series of features about parts of Minnesota culture that may have been lost within the mist of history.

In this podcast, Carmack talks with Steve Houle about his research on the history of Minnesota’s system of river ferries and how this system ended up being the driving force behind where the cities and towns we now call home came into being.

This program is funded in part by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Legacy Grant.
