St. Cloud Crush vs River Lakes
Brian Moos / Sports Director
On Thursday, St. Cloud Crush boys’ hockey hosted the River Lakes Stars, winning 4-3.
The Crush played a solid first period with little to show for it. The Stars had just one shot on goal in the first, that shot being a goal on a major powerplay. The Crush were in good position heading into the second period. Giving up just one goal on a major penalty and carrying a powerplay of their own heading into the middle frame.
However, the Crush fell behind even further, giving up two quick goals to the Stars. St. Cloud now trailed 3-0 less than five minutes into the second. The Crush did respond, as siblings Lincoln and Landon O’Donnell closed the gap to one. Lincoln O’Donnell’s tally was on a powerplay, a unit that has struggled for the Crush in the start of the 2025-26 season.
Entering the third trailing 3-2, the Crush scored on the powerplay again. This time from Finn Bolin to tie the game 3-3 just over two minutes into the third. The Crush would then complete the comeback, taking a 4-3 lead through Aiden Yurczyk. St. Cloud would hold that lead and finish an improbable result, advancing to 5-2 on the season.
