Archived: KVSC to Broadcast Live Election Debates
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – KVSC 88.1FM will broadcast two live debates to better inform Minnesota voters as they head to the polls November 2. The 30-minute debates will take place at 4:30 p.m. October 6 and 13 on 88.1FM and online at kvsc.org.
The October 6 debate has Minnesota House of Representatives District 15B opponents King Banaian (R) and Carol Lewis (D). October 13 will have Bruce Hentges (D) and John Pederson (R) faceoff as they run for Minnesota State Senate District 15.
KVSC News Director Chris Duffy will serve as moderator for the debates. Questions for the candidates will be issue-based topics on the economy, jobs, healthcare, and transportation. KVSC is broadcasting these debates in an effort to increase voter turnout and to give constituents the knowledge they need to vote smart.
“The goal of the debates is to make local candidates more accessible to our listeners so voters can distinguish the different priorities among candidates,” Duffy said. “In our world of short sound bites and instant gratification, our debates set out to paint a full picture of each candidate so voters can go to the polls with confidence.”
