George Maurer Bikes Across America To Honor Friend & Fundraise For Cancer Research

KVSC’s News Director John Peterson talks with Minneapolis pianist and composer George Maurer who departed on July 3, 2014 for “48 Across the 48: The Carolyn A. Held Memorial Bike Ride,” a 3,600-mile ride from Seattle to Boston inspired by Carolyn Held, who made her bicycle ride across the country in 1988. She died in 2012 after a one-year battle with cancer. The ride is an effort to honor his friend and raise funds for cancer research.
