World renowned and local artist Bela Petheo came to St. John’s University as a teacher and artist in 1966 and has been a part of the central Minnesota community ever since, with many of his hundreds of paintings and etchings capturing the essences of people we see every day.

In this installment of the Untold Stories of Central Minnesota, Arts and Cultural Heritage Producer Jeff Carmack visits the Bela’s home studio to discuss his journey from communist Hungary to the United States, the changes in the art world, and how he went about creating his over 500 paintings throughout his career.
