MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A police chase and crash has critically injured a father and his 1-year-old son in Monticello.
The Minnesota State Patrol says police were chasing a driver suspected of robbing Tootsies Tavern in Big Lake Monday evening. The 47-year-old male suspect is accused of pointing a weapon at a woman who was working at the tavern's pull-tab booth. He fled with some cash in a Chevy Suburban.
Big Lake police pursued the man who broadsided the victims' car at an intersection five miles from the tavern. Twenty-eight-year-old Travis Kolles and his 1-year-old son, Layton, were airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where they are both listed in critical condition.
WCCO-TV says the suspect was not seriously injured.
