A popped tire Wednesday evening in south St. Cloud led to an arrest.
St. Cloud Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says a man had pulled over in a parking lot in the 10 block of 4th Avenue Southeast for engine problems. The man heard two shots and noticed his tire was leaking air. The shots came from a house right across from the parking lot.
When police arrived they found 42-year-old Robert Ryan Zimmer with an uncased air rifle next to a window without a screen. Officers discovered Zimmer has a past felony conviction and located several other firearms within the house.
Zimmer was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault for shooting at the vehicle and felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently being held in the Benton County Jail.
No motive for the incident has been established.
