The 10-year-old Community Garden at St. Cloud State University is currently installing a new irrigation system.

SCSU alumni Joe Vos, Nicholas Jansse, Eric Olson, and Michael Hicks began developing the irrigation system back in 2010 as part of their environmental technology class. The plan was to accommodate the needs of the garden by using collected rain water as the main water supply.

Community Garden coordinator and SCSU sociology professor Tracy Ore says the irrigation system will give the garden access to more water.

The Community Garden volunteers include St. Cloud State staff, students, faculty and St. Cloud community members.

The second planting day will take place on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m.

The garden is located on Fifth Avenue South near Sixth Street next to the St. Cloud State Women’s Center.
