Archived: SCSU Students Reach Out To Ohio State After Recent Attack

In the aftermath of a knife attack at Ohio State University, local students reached out to express their condolences.

St. Cloud State University Student Government President Mikaela Johnson says she worked with organizations around campus to send a letter of support. The letter was written by Johnson and the president of the Somali Student Association.

“On behalf of the students at St. Cloud State University, we would like to send our condolences to the students, families, friends and everyone affected by the incident on Monday morning,” the letter states. “Our hearts go out to your university and community.”

On Monday, 11 people at Ohio State were hurt in a car-and-knife attack by an 18-year-old student, Abdul Razak Ali Artan.

The St. Cloud community and schools have endured their own challenges this year after acts of violence, including the stabbing incident at Crossroads Mall in September.

Johnson adds, “By staying #StCloudUnited we continue to grow as a university and community to keep everyone safe.”
