St. Cloud State University’s School of Public Affairs Dean Orn Bodvarsson will be stepping down effective July 31.

SCSU President Earl H. Potter III says Bodvarsson has accepted a position as the Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies at California State University in Sacramento.

Bodvarsson has been with the university for 26 years, serving as a professor of economics, chairperson of the Department of Management in the Herberger Business School and his recent position as dean. He was also instrumental in founding the School of Public Affairs during the university’s reorganization in 2010.

SCSU will be working on an interim plan and will conduct a national search in the fall.

Attempts to reach Bodvarsson for comment were unsuccessful as he is traveling internationally at this time.
