Many employees of Sodexo protested with anger this week outside of Garvey Commons on St. Cloud State Campus as they continue to negotiate with Sodexo on a new union contract.

KVSC News Director John Peterson and Assistant News Director Korina Borash captured sounds of the protest and spoke with Kathy Arnson, an employee of Sodexo for 16 years, to hear her reasons on speaking out about the recent negotiations and what they mean for her and her fellow workers.

Sodexo team members declined to comment on Wednesday’s protest.

Destiny Dusosky of AFSCME local 753 says Sodexo workers have been able to negotiate some contract changes. However, Dusosky adds that threats of take backs on health care benefits, leave pay, and reduced hours still remain an issue. Even though protests have ended for now, the negotiations team will be back in August.
