The St. Cloud Police Department issued more than 250 seat belt citations over a two-week period. From October 9th thru the 22nd, officers participated in a statewide "Click It or Ticket” enforcement effort to increase seatbelt and child restraint use among Minnesota drivers.

In all, St. Cloud Police issued 247 seat belt citations and five child restraint citations throughout the special enforcement. The law in Minnesota states that everyone in a car needs to wear a seat belt. A seat belt ticket costs $108 dollars to the offender.

Each year in Minnesota, 200 unbelted drivers are killed and 400 are injured.
