Archived: Bomb Threat Called in to Stearns County Offices

The Stearns County Sherriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat called in to the county offices in downtown St. Cloud. It happened at about 2:45 Thursday afternoon. Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says the caller was brief and said a "bomb had been placed at or near one of the county offices." A bomb response team was assembled to assess the threat and the investigation continues.

"The investigators are working on leads that have been uncovered through the technology that we have available to us and we’re hoping that we will identify the caller," said Sheriff Sanner.

The threat did not disrupt county business or the court schedule.

"I don’t have any reason to believe (county employees should be scared), but we’re always cautious, and the safety of the employees and the general public are of paramount concern to us," added Sanner.
