twilight_2nd_image.jpgSpringing from a 25-year musical friendship, Minneapolis musicians John Munson and Matt Wilson are now together as The Twilight Hours.  The duo’s new 10-track album, Stereo Night, had a national release date in January.  The new album is described as having “lavish harmonies, emotionally resonant lyricism, and some fiery fretwork…” (City Pages).

Munson and Wilson began their musical pairing in the late 1980s with Trip Shakespeare and continued off and on forming such bands as Time-Torn, The Flops and The New Standards.  The musicians have a strong relationship with KVSC by way of live performances and acclaimed airplay in various forms throughout their career.

“I think it’s very fitting to present The Twilight Hours as our first concert through the Minnesota Legacy supported fund,” said Station Manager Jo McMullen-Boyer.  At one time, KVSC was one of only a handful of stations playing new cutting edge music by our state’s homegrown musicians, including these artists.”

The two later went their own ways – Wilson going solo and Munson forming Semisonic with Wilson’s brother Dan in producing the No. 1 hit “Closing Time” and a platinum-selling album.

roma_di_luna_image.jpgOpening the concert is the modern folk and storytelling group Roma di Luna.  Together since 2004 the group now has two full-length albums and two EPs.  The group started out with the wife-husband duet Channy (vocals, violin) and Alexei (guitar, vocals) Casselle as street musicians in downtown Minneapolis.  Roma di Luna now has several principal players including Ben Durrant, James Everest, Ryan Lovan, Jessi Prusha, and Michael Rossetto.

Roma di Luna’s traditional folk meets modern tone creates a uniquely fresh sound.   “Their edgy, starry-night country/folk music is nicely filled in with softly plunked banjo, pretty violin and pristine electric guitar parts” (Star Tribune).

This free concert is paid for with support from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
