Zebra Mussels Found in Pimushe Lake

A Beltrami County invasive species specialist has confirmed that zebra mussels have made their way into Pimushe Lake.

The Minnesota DNR says that the staffer discovered one zebra mussel on a settlement sampler hanging on a dock and reported the incident to the DNR. Settlement samplers are placed in the water so that people can check them for zebra mussels before they go into the water.

Pimushe Lake is just north of the Cass Lake chain where zebra mussels have already been confirmed back in 2014.

The DNR is continuing to urge everyone to do their part in preventing the spread of aquatic invasive species.
