Archived: Tonight – Public Hearings on Proposed City Drinking Ordinances

On the agenda tonight… alcohol related issues. The St. Cloud City Council will take input from the community on a number of proposed measures to curb irresponsible drinking in the city. The council will hold public hearings on several issues, including the social host ordinance, which would make it illegal to host a party where it is known that underage drinking in taking place. The second issue is the disruptive intoxication ordinance, which establishes penalties for people who are drunk and behaving disruptively in public. The third issue promotes responsible drinking by limiting drink specials at city bars and restaurants. The final proposal would extend the alcohol probation period for repeat offenders, from 18 months to 24 months. The community can weigh in on these issues at tonight’s city council meeting which takes place at 6:00 at St. Cloud City Hall.
