Join Your Sound Alternative at the Downtown Walk About, an Open Streets or Streets Alive Festival, on Saturday, July 12th from noon - 4:00 p.m.  KVSC will be located on West St. Germain street in front of the White Horse bar and restaurant.  We're featuring the return of cupcake walk for kids as well as live music from John Larson and Matt Latterell.

St. Cloud's downtown streets will be closed to cars so you can walk, run, bike, rollerblade, dance and get moving.  The Walk About is organized by the Downtown Council & Alliance Foundation to inspire people to adopt more physically active lifestyles regardless of current fitness condition.  

Some of the fun activities include grape stomping, history hunt, inflatables, foot golf, trolley rides, farmer's market, build a birdhouse, zumba, bike rodeo, cross fit, pedal trolley, face painting, trampolines and much more!

KVSC is making a run for the border again! Your Sound Alternative is hosting a series of live broadcasts from the premier outdoor music festival of North America--the Winnipeg Folk Festival. Tune in July 10-12 for live interviews from musicians, festival organizers and behind-the-scenes volunteers. You may even hear exclusive live musical performances!

Don't miss out on this opportunity, as Folk Fest veterans Bridget, Dr. Beard and Derek take you on an audio adventure to the Winnipeg Folk Festival, July 10-12. 

                                       Live Broadcast Times:
                                       Thursday, July 10 ...... 4-6 p.m.
                                       Friday, July 11 ..........  4-6 p.m.
                                       Saturday, July 12 ....... 12 p.m - 4 p.m.

Some of the artists expected to join KVSC live include The Wood Brothers, Chic Gamine, Johnny Irion & Sarah Lee Guthrie, The Holmes Brothers, Elephant Revival, Langhorn Slim and the Law, Sweet Alibi and many more.

KVSC is the only radio station granted permission to broadcast live from this world class festival, and we're proud to present our 5th year of exclusive interviews and music!

KVSC is contacted daily with announcements on upcoming concerts, charity events, art shows and just about any type of community event you can think of. Most events are free or require a small donation/fee to attend. Most recently, Untold Stories of Central Minnesota series has highlighted untold stories of the region; including the founding of St. Cloud State University, the battle of Gettysburg as told by Melrose Area Museum, along with many other stories of regional history and culture.  

The KVSC Music Department is constantly podcasting interviews with local, national, and international musicians. The KVSC News Department is producing features of relevant events and issues and podcasting them as well.

So, you heard a song, but missed the DJ telling you what it was called and who sang it.  Don't sweat it. Just go to our Spinitron page.  

Located in the "Listen Live" player on the upper right of all pages, you can see who's on the air and what artist and song is currently playing.  Also, if you click the host's name you can view their profile.  If you click the track name, you can view the entire play list in real-time via

Ever wonder whose voice that is on the radio?

While listening to your favorite program on Your Sound Alternative, have you ever wondered who the voice is behind the microphone? That's a great question! KVSC attracts more than 70 volunteer deejays, so it can be hard to keep up. To see who is hosting your show of choice, check out our Program Guide. KVSC is proud to be part of the AMPERS radio network.  Ampers is a network of 16 independent community radio stations in Minnesota. Each station is locally managed and programmed by and for the local communities they serve.  Ampers is the largest network of community radio stations in Minnesota and one of the largest of its kind in the United States, including four tribally owned stations. From Grand Marais and Thief River Falls to Mankato and Winona, and just about everywhere in-between, we’ve got Minnesota covered. Our combined audience is about 250,000 devoted listeners.

PODCAST: Holocaust Survivor Henry Oertelt presents an original production--the amazing journey of Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Oertelt.  The entire podcast series is presented in episodes of the 18 critical events that led to Henry's survival of five Nazi concentration camps and a three day death march.  Henry Oertelt's compelling book, "An Unbroken Chain" was recorded and engineered at the KVSC studios.  KVSC is sincerely honored to be the audio archival source of Dr. Oertelt's eternal message of hope and dignity.
