Join Your Sound Alternative at Express Yourself, an evening of spoken word with Tish Jones and Guante. The free event will take place on Wednesday, March 22 from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at The Quarry in the Atwood Memorial Center on the campus of St. Cloud State University.

Granite City Radio Theatre Gears Up for Episode Three with Ann Michels

KVSC, in partnership with Pioneer Place on Fifth, is anxiously awaiting spring - and the third installment of Granite City Radio Theatre! The third GCRT show will take place Wednesday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. with special guest Ann Michels.

Michels is a singer/actor from Faribault, MN and sings in The George Maurer Jazz Group. She has worked with a variety of Twin Cities theaters, including: Guthrie Theater; Chanhassen Dinner Theatres; Nautilus Music Theater; Pantages; History Theater; Illusion/Actors Theater; Outward Spiral; Theater de la Jeune Lune. For GCRT round 3, Michels will be accompanied by house band Collective Unconscious.

The March 15 show is the third of four Granite City Radio Theatre performances; the final show of the fifth season will take place May 17, 2017. KVSC will be broadcasting live from the historic theater on all four dates.

Wondering what to expect from season five? Never fear - we’re thrilled to be bringing back last year’s fan favorites Jay Terry as host, writer, and actor extraordinaire, Dan Barth meeting all your trivia needs and all new performances of Shades Brigade serial dramas.

KVSC is celebrating its 25th year of Monday Night Live! You read it right, MNL is finally mature and we have an eclectic line-up of Minnesota artists filling our spring schedule.

Ever wonder whose voice that is on the radio?

While listening to your favorite program on Your Sound Alternative, have you ever wondered who the voice is behind the microphone? That's a great question!

KVSC attracts more than 60 volunteer deejays, so it can be hard to keep up. To see who is hosting your show of choice, check out our Program Guide. If you would like to join the team, visit our training department to learn the steps of becoming a radio host.

So, you heard a song, but missed the DJ telling you what it was called and who sang it.  Don't sweat it. Just go to our Spinitron page.  

Located in the "Listen Live" player on the upper right of all KVSC.org pages, you can see who's on the air and what artist and song is currently playing.  Also, if you click the host's name you can view their profile.  If you click the track name, you can view the entire play list in real-time via spinitron.com

The archive link gets you to all playlists by all hosts.  Try it out for yourself!

PODCAST: Holocaust Survivor Henry Oertelt

KVSC.org presents an original production--the amazing journey of Holocaust survivor Dr. Henry Oertelt.  The entire podcast series is presented in episodes of the 18 critical events that led to Henry's survival of five Nazi concentration camps and a three day death march.  Henry Oertelt's compelling book, "An Unbroken Chain" was recorded and engineered at the KVSC studios.  KVSC is sincerely honored to be the audio archival source of Dr. Oertelt's eternal message of hope and dignity.
